Our Armenian Gampr puppies are raised somewhat differently than our border collie puppies, as we expect them to do different jobs when they get older. Our puppies are always raised outside so they remained acclimated to Tennessee's climate. They're kept close when they're newborns to ensure their safety and so we can monitor them closely, and as they get older and more mobile they move out to our smaller sheep pasture. There they're introduced to ducks, chickens, turkey, and sheep with their parents.
We believe it's imperative that these pups go home around 8 weeks old, so that they do not miss the socialization window (8-12weeks). This is a crucial period in all puppies' lives where they are mentally primed to accept and adapt to new environments and challenges--after this window closes, it is much harder to train puppies to accept things they've never seen before. While it's the newest fad for some breeders to keep puppies until 12 weeks old, we believe this primes the puppies to live on OUR farm, not yours. Contrary to popular belief, puppies at this age do not learn much about livestock guarding from their parents, and they lose valuable time bonding with their new families and livestock.
Gampr puppies also go home with contracts that help protect your future partner. Check out our sample contract here:
